Five things to watch for in Bills' preseason finale

The Buffalo Bills wrap up the preseason Thursday night at Detroit. Coach Rex Ryan said earlier this week the team will rest as many starters as possible in the game, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have any significance for those players on the roster bubble.

Here are five things I'll be watching for tonight:

1. The running back rotation. Veteran Boobie Dixon is expected to get some carries as he works back from a calf injury that kept him out of most of training camp. The release of Fred Jackson this week and the uncertainty regarding starter LeSean McCoy's availability for Week One leaves the Bills with plenty of questions at running back heading into the season opener. Dixon might be able to earn some carries against Indianapolis with a good showing against Detroit. Also worth watching will be whether Bryce Brown gets any work against the Lions as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

2. Matt Simms' performance. The Bills' fourth-string quarterback is expected to play the entire game.
