Nationwide Super Bowl viewers may see a commercial for Vidler’s 5 & 10 this year, alongside the usual ones from powerhouses such as Budweiser, Doritos and GoDaddy.com.
The East Aurora novelty shop is one of 10 finalists to win an expenses-paid, 30-second television commercial during the big game through a contest from Intuit Quickbooks. It was chosen from more than 15,000 finalists by a panel of judges at Intuit. The finalists best represent “the spirt of the American small business” and were judged according to the applicants’ passion for their small business and authenticity.
Other finalists include Death Wish Coffee Co., a coffee roastery in Saratoga County; Wigglekids, a children’s fitness studio in Massachusetts; and EZPZ, a maker of children’s placemats and spill-proof dishes.
Vidler’s co-owner Don Vidler said he was “somewhat shocked but completely thrilled” when he found out Wednesday morning that he was a finalist.
The winner is determined by popular vote. Entries are cast at SmallBusinessBigGame.com.” Voting runs through noon on Nov. 3, when the top three finalists will be announced at Intuit’s annual QuickBooks Connect conference in California. The winner will be announced in January.
