Two people who used the mail to smuggle contraband into the Erie County Correctional Facility were arrested, the Erie County Sheriff’s Department reported.
Correctional facility personnel discovered a Suboxone strip hidden in a card addressed to inmate Jeremy Cole. Personnel contacted the Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit and after an investigation, detectives established that Angell Haight, 25, of Angola, was responsible for mailing the contraband, deputies reported.
She was arrested and charged with one felony count of introducing dangerous contraband into a prison.
Cole, 29, who is in the Alden facility on several charges in various towns, was charged with introducing dangerous contraband.
Both defendants are due in Alden Town Court on September 2.
