Buffalo man spared more jail time in federal drug case

Angel Gonzalez, 39, of Buffalo, was spared additional time behind bars as he was sentenced Wednesday by Senior U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny on his conviction for conspiracy with intent to distribute and to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.

Assistant U.S. Attorney George C. Burgasser said Gonzalez, who spent some 29 months in jail in the case, was arrested in December 2012 in a probe of a cocaine ring operating on the city’s West Side. Gonzalez was convicted of letting the traffickers store cocaine and the proceeds of drug sales at Gonzalez’ house on Auburn Avenue with him being paid for providing those services, Burgasser said.
