MAYVILLE – A 21-year-old Kenmore motorcyclist arrested by Chautauqua County sheriff deputies after a high speed chase through the Town of Hanover and the Village of Silver Creek last Thursday night faces charges in both of those municipalities, the County Sheriff’s Office reported Tuesday night.
James A. Argiro, of Keller Avenue, was arrested on Route 5 in Hanover about 8 p.m. Thursday after the chase, and a second motorcyclist escaped capture and is being tracked by the sheriff’s department.
After deputies received a call about two motorcyclists driving along Routes 5 and 20 at high rates of speed in Hanover they confronted both of them. Though the other suspect escaped, Argiro was charged with third-degree unlawful fleeing, reckless driving, moving between lanes unsafely, speeding in a posted zone in Hanover and unlawful fleeing and speeding in a posted zone in Silver Creek. Argiro was issued appearance tickets for pending court sessions and efforts to identify and arrest the second cyclist continue, officials said.
