Chippewa nightclub Noir is becoming a food-first restaurant called Local Kitchen & Beer Bar.
Noir, 88 W. Chippewa St., closed Aug. 2.
The plan is to showcase popular Buffalo food like beef on weck, wings and stuffed peppers for out-of-towners staying in hotels, and locals working downtown.
“We’re going full kitchen” with Local, said Justin Anderson, an owner.
Hopefully the place can open by the end of September, he said.
“We’re going to work hand-in-hand with the local breweries and distilleries, emphasizing local products,” Anderson said. He expects 40 beers on tap and 50-plus bourbons, with an interior redone with lots of rustic barn wood.
Servers will be outfitted in shirts emblazoned with Buffalo facts. A wall will be dedicated to Buffalo art by local artists, which customers can buy.
The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner, Anderson said. His partners are Kim and Peter Hammerl, who own Buffalo’s Best Grill in Orchard Park. “Our goal is to showcase Buffalo for people who live in Buffalo, and out-of-towners too,” he said.
