Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III has yet to tip his hand on persistent speculation that he will run for State Supreme Court this year.
But the Erie County Bar Association is taking the rumors seriously.
Shari Jo Reich, new chairwoman of the Bar Association's Judiciary Committee, said Sedita has been invited to appear before the committee later this month to be interviewed for a judicial rating -- such as "outstanding," "well qualified" or "qualified."
But the district attorney said Friday he has not requested an appearance before the rating panel, though the Bar Association may have scheduled one. And Reich said the bar routinely invites those who are rumored to be seeking judicial office.
Sedita also said Friday he has not announced anything about running for another office.
Reich said that the committee has already interviewed City Judge Debra L. Givens and attorney Emilio Colaiacovo.
