Two overnight shootings in Buffalo under investigation

Two shootings within an hour overnight Thursday are being investigated by Buffalo police.

The first occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on Jewett Avenue, near Fillmore Avenue. Police said a 25-year-old Buffalo man was struck by gunfire and was transported to Erie County Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Then, just before 12:30 a.m., police responded to the second shooting, on Holmes Street, near Military Road and Hertel Avenue.

“Detectives are investigating the details of a 28-year-old Buffalo male struck by gunfire,” a statement from Buffalo Police spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge said. He too was taken to ECMC where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police did not say whether there was a connection between the two incidents.
