New stop signs installed near Lockport school

LOCKPORT – New stop signs were scheduled to be installed Friday on Locust Street Extension at O’Connor Drive in the Town of Lockport, meaning drivers now must stop in all three directions at the T-shaped intersection.

Town Engineer Robert D. Klavoon said the change was made as part of the Safe Routes to School program, under which a new sidewalk was installed this spring along Locust Street Extension, along with a crosswalk at the O’Connor Drive intersection, which is located about two-thirds of a mile north of George Southard Elementary School.
