Great Performers Series showcases jazz superstars

It will be a season of jazz superstars performing in SUNY Buffalo State’s Rockwell Hall.

Dave Mason, David Sanborn and the Bad plus Joshua Redman are among the impressive names included in the just announced 2015-16 Great Performers Series. Here’s the full lineup.

Oct. 2: Jazz Funk Soul is a new “super group” featuring smooth jazz hitmakers Jeff Lorber, Everette Harp and Chuck Loeb; tickets are $35 to $40.

Oct. 16: Dave Mason’s Traffic Jam will feature an evening of musical history going back to Mason’s early career with the band Traffic; tickets are $35 to $40.

Nov. 5: David Sanborn will perform music from throughout his illustriousness career that includes six Grammy awards and eight Gold albums; tickets are $40 to $45.

Feb. 27: The husband-and-wife duet of Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn will perform on seven different banjos as they meld jazz, classical, bluegrass and Appalachian folk among other musical styles; tickets are $40 to $45.

April 22: The Bad – Reid Anderson, Ethan Iverson and David King – will be joined by frequent collaborator and their unofficial fourth member, saxophonist Joshua Redman; tickets are $35 to $40.

All shows start at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Aug. 13 at the Rockwell Hall box office, by calling 878-3005 or online at buffalostatepac.org.  Senior discounts and student rush tickets are available.
