Front page July 30, 1915: U.S. attorney to investigate shockingly high gas prices (15 cents!)

"On behalf of upwards of 12,000 Buffalo motorists, the NEWS has been trying to ascertain why the price of gasoline here has advanced from 12 and 13 cents to 15 cents a gallon, while in Saint Louis, Washington and Detroit the best grades sell for approximately 10 cents a gallon. Now United States District Attorney Lynn says he will immediately begin an investigation to determine if there is occasion for action by the government."
