Flash shut out by Portland

Goals have been hard to come by for the Western New York Flash this season.

For the sixth time they suffered defeat by shutout, losing to Portland Thorns FC, 2-0, at Sahlen’s Stadium in Rochester Wednesday night.

The Flash are now winless in their last five with two draws and three losses.

Portland took a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute when Christine Sinclair scored from Ayo Anonma. Sinclair then set up the next goal, a tally from Allie Long, in the 80th minute.

The Flash fell to 4-7-3 while Portland improved to 4-6-4.

The Flash play their next four games on the road, starting with a contest at Sky Blue FC on Saturday.
