Hamburg’s Coyote Café has been a mainstay in the village for 21 years. Owner Jeff Giovino named the bar after his grandmother’s father Carlos, who reportedly sold moonshine and considered himself a “bandito.”

Whether the legend is true is neither here nor there, but rest assured, the happy hour at the “cantina” is a steal with $2 beer and drinks, and $4 regular margaritas. But if you are going to drink a margarita, go for one of the special ones at $2 off, including Chambord, Blue Jaw, Cadillac and Cinnamon. The Café also switches out its high-end tequilas.

The décor is bright and cheerful, with a 35-foot bar and bar tables that can accommodate a crowd, or just two. While sitting along the tables in front along Hamburg’s Main Street is fun, a new back patio creates quite a welcome oasis in the busy village scene, including big events like the Music Festival, Burger Fest, or even a late morning at the farmers market across the street.

Mexican food and drinking go hand-in-hand, so when hunger strikes, Coyote offers $5 quesadillas during happy hour. Buffalo chicken, Chipotle Chicken, barbecue chicken and Southwest grilled veggie are just a few of the eight options. For the daring, $7 banana pepper poppers. Of course tacos, burritos, enchiladas and the like are on the main menu, too.
