Wheatfield OKs building plan for Empire Pipeline extension

WHEATFIELD – The town Planning Board has approved a site plan for the interconnection of the Empire Pipeline with the National Fuel natural gas supply line to Niagara Falls, according to Town Engineer Timothy Zuber.

The site at 6065 Walmore Road, near Cory Drive, will include four small buildings on a 150-by-150-foot stone pad: for control, metering, regulation and adding odorant to the gas. Outdoor heater and filter facilities also will be built, Zuber said.

The Empire Pipeline, a National Fuel subsidiary, is to be extended 1.68 miles from a site in the southwest corner of the Vantage International Point industrial park off Walmore Road to the connection with the Falls supply line. The Niagara County Industrial Development Agency, which controls the industrial park, approved the work in March.

Zuber said work on the Walmore Road site is likely to begin shortly after the town issues a stormwater management permit to the pipeline company, a move that is expected in the next few days.
