Arm all military personnel and solve shooting problem
Having been a Marine grunt from 2001 to 2005, I know that gun control in the military is vise-grip strict. The increased incidents of shootings on military personnel since 9/11 is alarming, and I propose a simple solution.
Since our inept politicians have made the military not only the recipient of their deeply misguided foreign policies, but also the blowback from stated policies here at home as they’ve become targets of those who wish us harm, I propose a simple solution: arm all military personnel.
A simple sidearm such as a Smith & Wesson 9 mm will suffice. Wikipedia states that as of late 2013, that there are more than 1.3 million active-duty members. If we round that number to 1.5 and multiply by a negotiated fair price for a Smith & Wesson per person ($300 per firearm), the taxpayer via the government would pay $450 million.
This simple solution is commonsensical and would work, which is why our imbecilic leaders will never do it.
They’d prefer to spend three to four times as much on a federal study that would propose no solution and would assign no blame. Sigh.
