Cab driver robbed in the Falls

NIAGARA FALLS – A cab driver was robbed at gunpoint when he went to pick up a fare just after midnight Tuesday at 16th Street and Ferry Avenue.

The 68–year–old driver told police when he arrived at the scene no one was around so he started to honk the horn. He said after a few minutes an unknown man approached from the rear of the vehicle and pointed a silver automatic handgun at him. He said the man demanded his money. The driver said he gave the suspect all the money he had in his pocket, which was about $35.

The driver said he was told to drive away and he complied, driving away down Ferry Avenue. The driver was unsure where the man went after the robbery. The robber was described as wearing a black hoodie and black trusers, approximately 5’6” tall and 180 pounds.
