St. Luke gets grant for shingle roof replacement, masonry restoration

St. Luke AME Zion Church received a $5,000 grant to help fund shingle roof replacement and masonry restoration.

The Buffalo church was the recipient of one of 23 Sacred Sites Grants totalling over $240,000 from the New York Landmarks Conservancy.

The church was designed by architect Frank Spangenberg and constructed in 1922 as the Central Church of Christ. The St. Luke congregation has owned the Gothic-Revival church since around 1960.
