Pride path: Fishbowl Friday, Big Gay Boat Ride, more

Don’t feel like a fish out of water with nothing to do this weekend! We’re entering the hottest time of the summer, so why not cool off with a drink, a boat ride or some local eats?

Fishbowl Friday, 10 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday at Funky Monkey Nite Club (20 Allen St.)

If there’s something about Friday night that makes you want to drink like a fish, then Funky Monkey will reel you in hook, line and sinker with Brent and Ryan slinging 16-ounce fishbowl cocktail concoctions for $5 until close.

Try the Fruit Loop, Sexy Monkey, Apple Pie, Blue Balls, Billy’s Beach Bum or Purple Monkey. DJ Danny D-Tox finds his home in the sound booth, and the enclosed patio is open. Plus, the bar calls random shot specials throughout the night. Must be 21 to enter. No cover.

Big Gay Boat Ride, 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Erie Basin Marina (329 Erie St.)

All aboard the booze cruise for a night on the water with the Imperial Court of Buffalo! Routes for the cruise vary depending on weather, but most cruises include travel along the Buffalo River, the Outer Harbor, Lake Erie and the Black Rock Lock and Canal.

The royal family puts on a show and the upper deck dance floor is open the rest of the afternoon with DJ Fierce on the boards and a cash bar at your beck and call. Follow the Court procession to Underground NightClub (274 Delaware Ave.) after the ride for food and extra libation.
The boat sets sail at 3 p.m. sharp, rain or shine, so arrive early. All riders must be at least 21 years old. Tickets are $25 and available at most LGBT bars or by contacting

Friday Fish Fry, 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Troop I’s Hamlin House Restaurant (432 Franklin St.)

The American Legion Post in the heart of Allentown has been an ally of the local LGBT community for years. The venue has hosted dozens of events organized by LGBT groups and community members, and the restaurant’s Wednesday happy hour has long been a community favorite.

Check out Hamlin House’s famous Friday Fish Fry featuring six different preparations, three summer salads, bread and butter, and your choice of a side all for under $15.
