Prescription drug plan assisted 4,000 Niagara residents

WHEATFIELD – A prescription drug discount card offered through the United Way of Greater Niagara assisted more than 4,000 Niagara County residents last year, the United Way announced last week.

The Familywize card is made available in conjunction with almost 1,000 local United Ways around the nation. The card was used for 20,828 prescriptions last year, helping 4,078 people save $540,532. The free card, available to anyone regardless of whether they have insurance, covers all prescription medications approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and is accepted at more than 60,000 pharmacies.
