Falls nurse wins Sass scholarship

NIAGARA FALLS – Andrei Grati, a registered nurse at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, has been awarded the 2015 Ruth and William O. Sass Scholarship.

Named in honor of Dr. and Mrs. William O. Sass, the scholarship, funded by an endowment to the Memorial Medical Center Foundation, was first awarded in 1998 to promote excellence in the field of nursing. Nearly $50,000 in assistance has been awarded to nursing students since its inception.

Grati is a graduate of Niagara County Community College and is pursuing a nursing degree at Niagara University. He works largely in Memorial’s surgery department.

Dr. Sass is a retired ophthalmologist who worked with generations of Niagara Falls area residents and Memorial Medical Center patients.
