A truck became submerged in water Sunday evening when a man attempted to launch a boat at the Erie Basin Marina, authorities said.
The man was backing a Ford Ranger pickup truck down the ramp about 7:45 p.m. and apparently thought the boat would float off the attached trailer into the water, officials said.
Instead, the man backed too far into the water, which started to fill the truck, officials said. The driver climbed out of the vehicle’s window as it continued to fill with water until it was entirely submerged.
About an hour later, a tow truck’s winch was used to pull the vehicle out of the water. The U.S. Coast Guard was also summoned to the scene.
The boat was not damaged and no injuries were reported.
