Classic car bursts into flames on Grand Island

A classic car was heavily damaged by fire Sunday afternoon on Grand Island after a defective fuel line caused it to burst into flames, town fire officials said.

James Mysliwiec was backing his 1979 Lincoln Continental out of his attached garage on West River Road just after 1 p.m. when it suddenly caught fire and stalled about three feet from the overhead door, officials said.

Grand Island firefighters put out the fire, which caused $10,000 damage to the vehicle and $500 damage to the garage door, officials said in a news release.

No injuries were reported.
