MILKOWSKI, Xavier Francis

MILKOWSKI - Xavier Francis Retired security manager and WW II Merchant Marine, died July 13, 2015 in hospice care at Brothers of Mercy. He was 90. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the second son from a family of six children. After his high school studies, he entered Merchant Marine training at Fort Trumbull Academy in New London, Connecticut and later received his license for 3rd officer of the US Merchant Marines. He served on 6 ships during WW II and received five decorations of honor from the US Navy for his service. As a successful cancer survivor from 1983, he then became a volunteer to educate patients about ostomy care. An avid gardener and historian, Xavier dedicated much of his time to landscaping Japanese gardens at his residence and volunteering at the Polish Arts Society as a lecturer. He is survived by his daughters Pamela (Kevin), and Frances (Torben), and six granddaughters. A memorial service will be held at the Forest Lawn Chapel on Wednesday July 29 at 1 PM. Xavier will be put to rest at 41' latitude, 70' longitude. Visitors always welcome.
