Niagara Falls man breaks leg in Saturday morning crash

NIAGARA FALLS — A 24-year-old city man broke a leg in a crash early Saturday near the corner of Walnut Avenue and 27th Street, police reported.

Investigators say the man was driving west on Walnut when his 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup left the road and smashed into a tree before coming to a stop against a house in the alley between 26th and 27th streets, north of Walnut.

The Niagara Falls Fire Department pulled the driver from the pickup and he was taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of a fractured left leg and facial lacerations, according to a police news release. His name was not released.

Police closed off a section of Walnut until 9:45 a.m. for the investigation and for cleaning up the scene. No charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation.
