Buffalo man reports $2,000 loss in theft of debit, benefits cards

A 64-year-old Niagara Street man told Buffalo police that someone used his debit card and his New York state benefits card to steal more than $2,000 from him in June and July.

The owner of the cards is disabled and relies on home health care aides to shop for him, and he told officers the women may have taken the cards. More than $1,000 was taken when his M&T Bank debit card was used at several locations, and a similar amount in food stamps was used. The thefts occurred between June 1 and July 16 and were reported Friday. No arrests have been made.
