Buffalo man charged with boating while intoxicated

A 35-year-old man was charged with boating while intoxicated after deputies stopped a boat operating without navigation lights, according to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.

Michael Curran of Buffalo was stopped by Marine Unit deputies just before midnight Thursday as they patrolled the waters near Canalside, a sheriff’s spokesman said.

Suspecting Curran was intoxicated, they took him to shore for a breath test, which indicated he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.11 percent, the spokesman said.

Curran, who also was charged with unspecified navigation law violations, was released on tickets to appear in Buffalo City Court.
