WHEATFIELD – A man wanted on warrants in a 2013 burglary was taken into custody as a result of a traffic stop last week near Sawyer Drive.
Niagara County sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle that did not give a sufficient turn signal notice while making a right hand turn onto Maria Allen Square Plaza in Wheatfield, last Wednesday, just before 3 p.m.
The passenger, later identified as Kyle T. Stewart, 28, of River Road, ran from the vehicle and into the high brush. The driver, Rachel S. Slish, 26, of the same address drove to Stewart’s location when he exited the brush and sped off with him, then south onto Plaza Drive. Deputies located the suspects’ vehicle near their home on River Road and located Slish, who was arraigned in the Town of Wheatfield Court and held on $500 bail on unspecified charges.
Stewart was subsequently located and held on an active Niagara County Court warrant for a 2013 burglary in the Town of Wheatfield. He was arraigned Monday before Niagara County Court Judge Matthew J. Murphy III. on charges of third-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny and second-degree criminal mischief, and was ordered held on $20,000 bail.
