Sherman Street man charged with burglarizing woman’s home

A 29-year-old Sherman Street man arrested by Buffalo police at Broadway and Sweet Street about 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, shortly after he allegedly broke into a Person Street woman’s home, was charged with second-degree burglary.

James Williams, who remained in custody late Wednesday in the Erie County Holding Center, was accused of punching the homeowner after she unexpectedly confronted him. The woman told police Williams escaped through the same side screen window he had used to break into the house.
