Candy and cash taken in a Newfane burglary

NEWFANE – A resident in the 3100 block of Roland Drive called Niagara County sheriff’s deputies when she arrived home at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and found a rear bedroom window screen had been cut.

The victim said the window was not locked.

The only loot that appeared to be missing was $40 in ones, fives and a $20 bill which were on the dresser. There were also candy wrappers on the floor from candy that had been taken from the refrigerator.

Two red handkerchiefs were found on the back deck were turned over to the sheriff’s department for evidence.
