The Buffalo Sabres re-signed forward Johan Larsson on Tuesday to a one-year contract.
The soon-to-be 23-year-old forward appeared in a career-best 39 NHL games and recorded 16 points on six goals and 10 assists with the Sabres last season. He also led the AHL Rochester Americans in points per game and with a plus-12 rating last year. Larsson had 40 points on 15 goals and 25 assists with Rochester.
The Sabres acquired Larsson from the Wild in a 2013 trade deadline deal in which Buffalo traded Jason Pominville and a 2014 fourth-round pick. Along with Larsson, Buffalo received goaltender Matt Hackett, a 2013 first rounder and a 2014 second-round pick.
Larsson was selected by Minnesota in the second round of the 2010 NHL Draft.
