Motorcyclist charged for driving 90 miles per hour

LOCKPORT – A motorcyclist doing wheelies and driving 90 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone along a stretch of South Transit Road, from the Town of Lockport to Pendleton, was charged by Niagara County sheriff’s deputies on Sunday.

Beau A. Babcock, 21, of Rochester Road, Gasport was charged with speeding, no signal and equipment violations just before 9 a.m. Sunday.

Deputies said he was doing a wheelie with his front tire off the ground and weaving in and out of traffic. Deputies said it took awhile before he responded to the flashing lights and siren. He told deputies he didn’t see them because he had no rearview mirror.

Asked why he was driving so recklessly, Babcock told deputies he was just “being stupid” and showing off.
