Defendant stole to support his drug habit

A Town of Boston man has been ordered to pay more than $66,000 in restitution to his former employer after pleading guilty to second degree grand larceny in State Supreme Court.

Joshua J. Craig, 35, was “a classic example of someone prescribed pain medications who became addicted to them,” according to defense attorney Leonard Krawczyk.

The thefts from Total Transportation Services, discovered last summer, were attributed to Craig’s efforts to feed his drug habit.

After telling Judge Penny M. Wolfgang that Craig had gone through extensive treatment for his addiction, Krawczyk added, “I do believe he’s bottomed out.”

Wolfgang noted a favorable presentencing report before ordering the restitution along with a sentence of five years probation.
