Woman accused of striking a 10-year-old
A 24-year-old Greenwood Place woman faces two misdemeanor charges after police said she struck a 10-year-old in the head while breaking up a fight between the 10-year-old and her own 7-year-old son.
Kiara S. Freeland injured the 10-year-old at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in a neighbor’s house on Potomac Avenue, according to the mother of the victim, who was treated for a concussion and then discharged from Women and Children’s Hospital after the incident.
Freeland was accused of third-degree assault and of endangering the welfare of a child, both of them class A misdemeanors, police said.
