Suspect arrested in attempted burglary

A Herman Street man was charged with attempted burglary after a neighbor of a vacant flower shop on Hodge Avenue at the corner of Elmwood Avenue heard someone banging on the front glass door with a brick Sunday just after midnight.

Police who arrived after the neighbor called to report the attempted break-in found John H. Moore, 59, of Herman Street still in the vicinity and a damaged door at Flowers by Chuck at X-Cel’s.

Moore was charged with third-degree burglary, a class D felony; fourth-degree criminal mischief, a class A misdemeanor; and trespass, a violation.
