‘Reading Invasion’ at Best Street garden park next week

Bring a book, a chair and a child to Buffalo’s second “Reading Invasion” Monday, July 27 at 7 p.m.

For the second time this year, book readers will gather in a public place to promote the pastime to the younger set, Meet up at the Pelion Community Garden on Best Street, across from the City Honors School at 186 East North St.

Find details at the Reading Invasion Facebook page, where the philosophy behind the idea is explained as a way to promote literacy for success in school and life: “[T]oo often young people aren’t exposed to the rich adult culture of reading that Buffalo has,” says the Facebook post. “The Reading Invasions are a chance to bring readers together and show the next generation that reading is alive and well and an important part of our lives here in the Queen City.”
