KEPPEL, Henry E., Jr. "Bud"

KEPPEL - Henry E., Jr. "Bud" Passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Little River, SC, on June 4, 2015. He was born on October 24, 1932 in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Henry E. Sr. and Irene (Olmsted) Keppel. He graduated from Canisius High School, attended Canisius College and graduated from the University of Detroit in Michigan with a degree in Architecture. He is survived by his wife Lorraine Mutschler Keppel; a sister Shirley Ann; six children: Kathleen (Mark) Santoro, Theresa, Gregory, Julie Osman, Christine (Steve) DeFrank and Michelle Davis; eight grandchildren; 12 stepchildren, 48 step-grandchildren and 22 step-great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind nephews Charles Thress and Dale (Marjory) Thress and cousins: Dick (Pat) Keppel, Robin Keppel, Frank (Linda) Keppel and Donna (John) Rzepa. He was preceded in death by his sister Joann Thress. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years with distinction, including one tour in Vietnam commanding 1500 Seabees. He received a Masters degree in Engineering from the Naval Post Graduate School. He was honorably discharged as a commander in 1976. A Memorial Service was held in June in North Myrtle Beach, SC. He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of South Carolina or the Wounded Warriors Project.
