World Trade Center Buffalo Niagara is searching for a new president, as Erin M. Cole leaves after one year on the job for a new position with Empire State Development.
WTCBN, a nonprofit international business development organization, has formed a search committee to find a replacement. The committee has asked for names of potential candidates to be submitted by Aug. 15.
WTCBN’s board chairman, Kenneth Franasiak, in a statement said Cole had led the group “through a tough transition year, but has grown our membership, taken on new consulting projects and expanded outside of Buffalo.” The group says it has 100 members; its territory covers Western New York and the Finger Lakes, as well as Southern Ontario to Burlington.
Cole is set to begin her new job, as senior vice president of Global NY within Empire State Development, on Monday. Franasiak said Cole will continue to live in Lockport and “travel extensively around the state.”
Empire State Development describes Global NY as an initiative launched by Gov. Andrew Cuomo offering “one-stop shopping” to foreign businesses that want to invest in New York state, as well as local businesses that want to export.
Cole has led WTCBN since July 2014, after working for the U.S. Agency for International Development in Uzbekistan.
