Probation, restitution ordered in burglary at Lockport Bon Ton

LOCKPORT – A Buffalo mother of three who stole $1,303 worth of merchandise from the Lockport Bon Ton store with the help of an employee was sentenced Monday to five years’ probation.

When Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon asked Catrina M. Contrereaz “what was so interesting at the Bon Ton,” the defendant replied, “Body spray or soaps.”

Contrereaz, 27, of Winter Street, blamed her use of drugs for her decision to enter the store July 21, 2013, when a friend let her in after closing time. Some of the soap bars were “money soap” with cash inside. Investigators found Contrereaz’ fingerprints and DNA on a water bottle in the stock room. She must make full restitution to the store.
