Where we live: Amherst

It’s summer, which means live outdoor music.

Last summer’s successful “7 Tuesday’s in the Park” continues from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Glen Park in Williamsville with a performance by the Mark Weber Trio. The free concert series is presented by the Williamsville Village Arts Culture Committee with sponsorship from the Village of Williamsville and the Williamsville Business Association.

Meanwhile, the Amherst Youth & Recreation Department’s summer concert series continues at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Bassett Park, 359 Klein Road at Youngs Road. Queen City Swing will perform. In case of rain, the concert will be held at the Clearfield Community Center, 730 Hopkins Road.

Elsewhere, Ryan Dutschman, 17, of Getzville will be in Washington D.C. this week as the Western New York delegate for the JDRF Children’s Congress. Ryan is among the 160 young people with type 1 diabetes selected to meet with Congress to promote funding for diabetes research. He was chosen from a pool of 1,500 applicants.

This week:

• The Amherst Veterans Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Amherst Municipal Building, 5583 Main St., Williamsville.

• The Glen Park Joint Board meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Amherst Municipal Building.

• The Amherst Recycling and Waste Committee meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the municipal building.
