Front page July 12, 1915: Three men escape from county lockup

Among the local news on the day's front page:

"Three scale high wall at penitentiary"

"Three prisoners in the jail department of the Erie County penitentiary eluded guards at 3 o'clock this morning and after getting through a hole in the roof made their escape over the high wall on the Pennsylvania street side of the building. The men, it is believed, were aided by parties on the outside who took them away in an automobile.

"The men are George E. Wallace, 20 years old, Robert Morro or Robert Maroor, 24 years old, of 240 South Division street, and Wallace Manning, 23 years old. The men were awaiting trial on larceny charges, the police say."
