LOCKPORT – State Sen. Robert G. Ortt, R-North Tonawanda, will be in Lockport Tuesday to present the YWCA of the Niagara Frontier with a $54,000 state check.
The money, obtained by Ortt in this year’s state budget process, will be used to help victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and rape. The money will go to the YWCA’s rape crisis and domestic violence services and programs, which provide victims and survivors with free counseling, around-the-clock crisis intervention, and shelter.
On average, the YWCA provides services to 740 domestic violence victims and 60 sexual assault victims annually in Niagara County. The check presentation ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the YWCA, 32 Cottage St.
