Falls man found unconscious when boat rams into Isle water intake

A Niagara Falls man was knocked out after his boat rammed into a Niagara River water intake off Grand Island about 1 p.m. Friday.

Sanford Deacon, 66, was treated in Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo, then released, hospital officials said Saturday. Grand Island Fire Company rescue personnel responded to the emergency at Waikiki Water Craft Rental, 1010 Whitehaven Road – between Byblos Resort and River Oaks Marina. Deacon, authorities said, was found unresponsive in the bottom of his boat, which was towed to shore.
