Jeff Simon recommends: Top five for this week

1. Book: “Go Set a Watchman” by Harper Lee (Harper) The rejected first book by the much-beloved author of “To Kill a Mockingbird” finally sees the light of day when it is officially, and controversially, published on Tuesday.

2. TV Show: “Masters of Sex.” Returns for a new season on Showtime at 10 p.m. Sunday.

3. Movie: “Amy.” The much-praised documentary about the life and tragic death of British soul singer Amy Winehouse is now playing at the Amherst Theater. [Read Jeff Simon's 3.5-star review]

4 and 5: Discs. Rickie Lee Jones “The Other Side of Desire” (Tosod) and James Taylor “Before the World” (Concord). The art of the American songwriter at its finest continues to be in the best possible veteran hands with a new disc by Rickie Lee Jones and James Taylor’s first disc of original songs in 13 years – some of it, he says, polished in a Buffalo recording studio.
