Rain forecast postpones Buffalo Surgery Center groundbreaking

A groundbreaking for the expansion of Excelsior Orthopaedics’ ambulatory surgery center in Amherst has been postponed until Friday because of the heavy rains predicted for Thursday afternoon.

The ceremony now will take place at 12:30 p.m. Friday at 3925 Sheridan Drive.

Excelsior and Matrix Development plan to construct a one-story, 27,175-square-foot building on the southwest corner of their campus, just west of Harlem Road. The $9.5 million building would be more than three times larger than the existing Buffalo Surgery Center in the practice’s main building and should be finished by mid-January.
