The Eden Central School Board has set a public hearing about a proposal to help students remain eligible for extracurricular activities.
Board members plan to hear comments at 7:30 a.m. Friday in the junior-senior high school’s cafeteria about a proposal to establish a “watch list” for students who have received an unsatisfactory grade.
Students with two unsatisfactory grades become ineligible for extracurricular activities. Those on the list would attend a supervised 45-minute study session after school three times a week.
Officials hope the sessions would prevent another unsatisfactory grade.
Marisa Fallacaro, athletics director, suggested the study sessions to the board during its meeting July 1.
The board plans to vote on the proposal, which would involve amending the students’ code of conduct, on Aug. 12.
