Amid a summer lineup heavy with country acts (among them, Brad Paisley, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line) stands one show that has country music fans buzzing. Toby Keith will roll into town on his “Good Times and Pickup Lines” tour for what has become a nearly annual appearance at Darien Lake Performing Arts Center.
With a résumé that boasts 20 No. 1 singles and more than 40 million albums sold, Keith’s work as a country artist stands on its own. But it is his reputation for putting on one of the best live shows in country music that keeps folks coming back.
Heavily layered with the standard clichés of country music (beer, women and pickup trucks), Keith is also known for bleeding red, white and blue, and at some point in the evening, you can count on two things: He will fire up his No. 1 single, “American Soldier” (from his 2003 album, “Shock’n Y’all”) and the crowd will lose its collective mind. Beers will be raised high, flags will be waved, and you’ll practically be able to feel the patriotic surge wash over the performing arts center.
Keith performs at 7 p.m. Saturday in Darien Lake PAC. Tickets are $25-$60.25 (livenation.com).
