Annual foot, bicycle patrols under way by Cheektowaga police

Annual foot and bicycle patrols by Cheektowaga police have begun in four town neighborhoods.

Through Oct. 31, officers on the day and afternoon shifts will patrol the Walden Avenue and Genesee Street neighborhoods bordering the City of Buffalo, as well as the Town Park and Cedargrove areas.

Police said the program, now in its 21st year, improves personal contact between police and residents to identify neighborhood problems and solutions, among other things.

“These patrols have always been well received in the neighborhoods,” said Capt. Michael Sliwinski. “They’ve worked well for us and for the community.”
