Storm expected to hit WNY area at around 5 p.m.

A few isolated thunderstorms are peppering the Western New York area in advance of the main storm front which will hit early this evening.

The front will hit the region starting at roughly 5 p.m. and last a couple hours, maybe until around 9 p.m., said meteorologist Jim Mitchell of the National Weather Service in Cheektowaga.

There is the potential for some heavy rainfall and possibly some isolated gusty winds, Mitchell said.
