Lieutenants arrest Buffalo man seen discharging shotgun

An East Side man faces multiple charges after two Buffalo police Strike Force lieutenants said they saw him discharging a shotgun late on the Fourth of July.

Lieutenants Thomas R. Whelan and Michael Quinn said they saw Tony Beal, 32, discharging a Winchester shotgun about 11 p.m. on Erb Street “placing officers and civilians at grave risk,” according to a report. Five spent casings and nine live rounds were recovered at the scene, police said.

Beal was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, prohibited use of weapons and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
