Missing man found safe after nearly a day-long search

CARLTON – A nearly day-long search for a 68-year-old missing Albion man ended happily Monday afternoon when the man was located safe and “none the worse for wear,” according to Orleans County Sheriff Scott D. Hess.

The man was reported missing about 11:20 p.m. Sunday when he failed to return to a campsite at Lakeside Beach State Park in the Town of Carlton, where they were staying. After a search by members of seven police agencies, his truck was found stuck in soft ground on the east bank of Johnson’s Creek and the man was located about 4:30 p.m.

He was examined by emergency medical personnel and was returned to his family, the sheriff said.
